Snakehead Fishing
All the 28 different known Snakehead species are found in South East Asian waters. They are popular among local residents as well as by fishing tourists and are also considered a delicates by many. As of 2005, Thailand is one of the most popular destinations for Snakehead fishers from the rest of the world. The country has a well developed tourism sector and fishing trips are arranged to suit most travellers’ needs and preferences. It is also one of the regions of the world where you can catch several Snakehead species. At least three of the Snakehead species are commonly caught in Thailand: the Striped Snakehead, the Great Snakehead and the Giant Snakehead.

THIS IS THE ONE AND THE SAME COBRA SNAKEHEAD EVERY THAI LURE ANGLER DREAMS ABOUT Now dear reader, if you have any good knowledge about Snakehead species or if you have the chance to target them with rod and line on a regular basis, I'm pretty sure what you just have read has amazed you as much as it amazed me. I was even more astonished when I looked carefully at the photo featured on the Florida Division of Freshwater Fisheries website page showing that unwanted snakehead specimen. I just couldn't believe my eyes. Not a single doubt about it, that alien fish was the very same Cobra Snakehead that any Thai lure angler dreams to catch in his lifetime.

Hunting the Snakehead: Angling Tactics from Asia
Most American anglers are familiar with the snakehead story. These non-native fish have permeated throughout the waterways of multiple states and the Fish and Wildlife Service marked the snakehead as an "injurious species" making it illegal to import and transport the fish across state lines. Bass Pros Shops even put a bounty on the fish by offering a gift certificate reward for snakeheads captured and turned in to conservation authorities. It is an alpha predator of the freshwater ecosystem and if it becomes further dispersed, it could be impossible to eradicate.
