Just Got my First Snake Head

    Just got my first Red-snake head today 7/28. It is rooming with a Jack Dempsy- Green terror- and a Red eared Slider turtle.
    Give me some heads up on what to expect. The snake head is only about 2.5 inches long, it is getting chased all over the tank and at only 2.5 inches he is defending its territory. How fast is this thing going to grow?

    ;) Hi, Well i wrote a responde and then got booted before i could post the damn thing. Let\'s see if it\'ll work this time. I think he\'ll be alright in there for now. Try to re-arrange the tank. Moving thigs aroung will make the whole tank look new to all the fish. That way no one will be too agressive to each other. If you\'ve already done that...cool. Now about Red. If you feed him regularly, he will double or triple his size in a couple, few months. So watch him closely. Eventually he will go after your other fish. Even if he can\'t fit the whole fish in his mouth, he will take half or chunks at a time. I would be prepared to get him his own tank. \"They\" say that a snakehead should get a 90gal. tank to itself. So start looking for a good deal on tanks. Hope this will help ya.     Yah like Andy said if you feed him regularly he will grow super fast, my 2 other friends have snake heads as well, we got them all in the same day, same size almost, and i was the one with the smallest tank (20 gal) when i got him it was about 3 inches. After a few months now he is about 11 inches. Right now i have my snakehead in a 100 gallon tank, with a red pike.

    I feed my snakehead daily he eats about 5-7 large goldfish. If you want your snake head to grow fast, change your water about once a week or every 2 weeks.

    i would just like to say i have a 26inch red snakehead he\'s two. he lives in a 125 gall tank and eat 35-45 large goldfish a week.

    I have a snakehead that I\'m looking to place. He\'s outgrowing our tank. He\'s about 16 inches long and just needs more room. I\'m looking for someone who knows a thing or two about this species and is willing to take good care of him. He was living with an oscar, but they began to fight, then he was living with a jack demspey and a parrot fish, whom he both killed after a long time together. My e-mail is sccrbwlr01@aol.com.     well i got mine for 3inch and being tripled in 1 month,he only eats live fish,guppies,goldfish and all small fishes,I also tried feeding him with blood worms but he only take a few of it when all the feeders all gone
